Mountain Plains Museums Association

Mountain Plains Museums Association

I joined the Mountain-Plains Museums Association in 2004. The following year, after meeting several board members and discussing technology-related issues as they relate to museums, I became the Chair of the MPMA Technology Committee. One of my first directives was to redesign mpm.net. Not only was the old site visually outdated, it was cluttered with poorly organized and often redundant pages and information.

The redesigned site offers a streamlined menu and focuses on a new logo aimed to unite the museums of the region under a single banner. (I designed the logo which was selected anonymously via an open-entry competition.)

I introduced the idea of starting an MPMA Flickr account in order to incorporate images contributed from members all over the region.

Likewise, I created an MPMA MySpace page in 2006 in order to raise awareness of the organization among Museum Studies students and recent graduates.
