I met Emek when I was the Archivist at the Center for the Study of Political Graphics in Los Angeles. He was already well-known to me as one of the most respected rock poster artists working today. However, Emek also was (and still very much is) making insightful/beautiful/stinging political posters and I wanted to introduce him to CSPG.
Not surprisingly, Emek was very much into the CSPG mission and I forged a relationship between the artist and the organization that resulted in on-going donations of his political work.
When it came time for him to revamp his website, he asked if I knew anyone who could do the job. Over the next six months, I worked with him to redesign and develop emek.net.
A special note concerning eCommerce: A prime goal of the website has never been met. Due to his popularity, Emek’s posters routinely sellout within seconds of going on sale. I have implemented many eCommerce packages on emek.net only to have them all fail. If anyone knows of an eCommerce solution that can handle the sale of 300 items within 20 seconds of being added to the inventory (and then automatically deactivate the purchase button and cease sales), please let me know. This has been a thorn in my side for far too long…
