It was a pleasure to work with an artist as talented as David V. D’Andrea. A rising star in the rock poster movement, David’s work is characterized by highly detailed and intricate pen and ink drawings.
He wanted something very minimal which would accentuate his art. The spare design lets his art do the talking, while the scroll-like layout suggests and reinforces the mystical nature of many of his pieces.
Also, through the use of JavaScript and the Lightbox image enlargement application, most of the site exists on a single page. This can be very useful for encouraging deeper content exploration.
Finally, he wanted a site that he could add to and maintain. Using clean code and providing David with training after site completion, he is able to add pages and items to his shop page, decreasing his dependence on contractors and maintaining a current storefront for his fans.
